Weekly Saturday Wrap-Up

Today we are going to review the Specialized bikes that are on sale through April 22nd during the Specialized Spring Classics Sale.

Monday we highlighted the Specialized Tarmac and I pictured the S-Works Tarmac SL4 DI2 above with a MSRP of $12,000 and not a part of the sale but I just love how fast this bike looks so I figured I would switch it up since you can go back and read Monday's post to see some of the sale models.

Whether it's winning the Tour de France or a local crit, the next generation of Tarmac—the SL4—was born to race, with head-snapping acceleration and razor-sharp handling. The S-Works model features our lightest and stiffest frame ever, plus super lightShimano Dura Ace Di2 components and Roval Rapide CLX 40 wheels: no wonder it's the go-to bike for pros on Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank and Astana.
  • SL4 FACT IS 11r carbon frame has our highest stiffness-to-weight ratio ever, with tapered head tube, carbon OSBB, and internal cable routing for race day performance
  • Specialized S-Works FACT carbon crankset; with new, state-of-the-art Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 electronic 11-speed shifters ultralight, smooth performance
  • Full monocoque FACT carbon fork with a tapered carbon steerer is super light with great torsional rigidity for high-speed handling
  • Ultra-light Roval Rapide CLX 40 wheelset for low aerodynamic drag, and low rolling resistance thanks to Ceramic Speed bearings.
  • S-Works Turbo 220 TPI tire offers a fast, light, and tough tire. Extremely low rolling resistance and superior cornering traction lets you climb easily, descend faster, and corner harder.
  • Pro-quality, long-lasting and lightweight Ceramic Speed bottom bracket with ceramic bearings for reduced friction
  • Lightweight, adjustable, carbon-enhanced S-Works stem optimizes efficiency and comfort and looks stylish while doing it
  • S-Works FACT carbon seatpost and cradle is super light and stiff for optimal power transfer; paired with ultra-light and stiff BG Toupe Pro saddle with carbon rails

Tuesday we discussed the Specialized Roubaix with the Zertz inserts to help with vibration reduction.  Above you will see the S-Works Roubaix SL4 DI2 Compact bike with a MSRP of $12,000.  This is the frame that Tom Boonen rode to his victory in the 2012 Paris-Roubaix race and I imagine he would have given Fabian Cancellara a run for his money this past weekend in the 2013 edition if he did not get injured!

“Everything is better. It's faster, and it absorbs the vibrations of the cobblestones.”
—Tom Boonen - Team Omega Pharma - Quick-Step,

The smoother, faster S-Works Roubaix SL4 features a super light and stiff FACT 11r carbon frame with tapered head tube, Zertz vibration dampers, and full internal cable routing—the same frame that Tom Boonen rode to win the 2012 Paris-Roubaix. Equipped with Pro-Tour proven Dura Ace Di2 components, Specialized SL FACT carbon cranks, and Roval Rapide CLX 40 wheels.
  • S-Works FACT 11r SL4 frame with Zertz is the fastest and smoothest endurance bike avaliable, with size specific engineering, tapered headtube, ultra lightweight.
  • All-new Specialized FACT carbon fork with Zertz has size-specific engineering that creates a more balanced and stable ride for riders of different sizes
  • Ultra-light Roval Rapide CLX 40 wheelset for low aerodynamic drag, and low rolling resistance thanks to Ceramic Speed bearings.
  • Specialized S-Works FACT carbon crankset with OSBB, removable carbon spider, and ceramic bearings has incredible stiffness-to-weight for max power
  • S-Works SL ergonomic carbon handlebars for superior fit, comfort, stiffness, and strength at minimal weight
  • Ultra-light and stiff BG Toupe RBX Pro saddle with carbon rails; paired with the new S-Works Flex post sharpens handling and dampens road vibration
Wednesday was our Bike Industry News review.  We highlighted a new Specialized Saddle, Specialized Special Limited Edition bikes, SRAM's new 22 speed, a clip talking about Fuji's new TT/Triathlon bike, and a write up on the tires that teams used in the 2013 Paris-Roubaix race.

Thursday was about a sweet ride - The Specialized Venge.  This is my favorite model of Specialized's road line and I picked the S-Works Venge Super Record EPS with a MSRP of $14,000 and a limited edition run of 100 but it seems that Mike Sinyard already claimed his so it was down to 99 at time of publication!

"I've always had a special appreciation for Campagnolo and an affinity for Italian design. Campy was on my bike when I set out to ride around Europe—the trip that inspired me to import Cinelli parts to the USA, and start the Specialized brand. With the new Super Record EPS Group, Campagnolo have applied the most advanced technology to their time-honored heritage. Pairing these intuitive, accurate and reliable parts with the World Championship winning S-Works Venge just seems natural. Only 99 will be available, because this one has my name on it."
--Mike Sinyard, Founder and President
