Specialized S-Works Sub 6

I have this cool video I watch periodically that is a Ski Take-off called Progression is Regression (You should check it out if you are a skier and older than 35 or so - pretty humorous!)  You ask what in the world does a ski video have to do with bike shoes - well remember when all bike shoes had laces?  They are back in this years S-Works Sub 6:

The S-Works Sub6 is the most aerodynamically advanced, lightest shoe we’ve ever produced. The traditional lacing system cuts down weight, while the Warp Sleeve™ lace cover—a sleeve worn directly over the laces—is Win Tunnel Engineered to reduce drag and clean airflow over the shoe. When combined with the narrower heel cup, you can save up to 35 seconds over 40 kilometers when compared to the previous S-Works Road Shoe. With the PadLock heel, it maintains the same secure and snug heel fit as theall-new S-Works 6 shoe for superb connection and efficient power transfer, but in a boldyet minimalist package. Less is more.

AVAILABLE AUGUST 2015

Specialized 2FO Cliplite

2FO Clip on the left and 2FO ClipLite on the Right
Here is a post based on our visit out to Specialized this week and being able to demo not only bikes but shoes and helmets as well.  The Specialized 2FO Cliplite (and 2FO Clip) shoe:

Designed for pushing the limits of Enduro racing or Trail riding, the 2FO Cliplite delivers pedal connection, comfort, and protection as you race down the trail. This ultra-light version of the popular 2FO Clip is engineered for smooth pedal entry and exit thanks to the Landing Strip cleat pocket, meaning you can focus on going fast on the descent, without the weight penalty for your climb back to the top. It’s foot out, flat out—on a diet.
  • Body Geometry sole construction and footbed: ergonomically designed and scientifically tested to boost power, increase efficiency, and reduce chance of injury by optimizing hip, knee, and foot alignment.
  • Landing Strip™ cleat pocket is optimized for effortless foot-out riding style with platform clip pedals.
  • Two independent Boa® S2-Snap dials for easy adjustment, backed by the Boa® Lifetime Guarantee.
  • Stiff Lollipop™ nylon composite plate for high performance pedaling and off bike comfort.
  • SlipNot™ rubber sole for confident traction.
  • Asymmetric toe box protection where you need it.
  • Extended length cleat slot (4mm) for rearward cleat set up option.
  • Smooth thermobonded upper for lightweight durability and a snag-free profile.
  • Cushioned EVA midsole for comfort with molded heel cup for stability.
  • Standard Fit last for a balance of pedal feel and off-bike comfort.
  • Two-bolt cleat pattern fits all major MTB pedals.
  • Approximate weight: 379g (1/2 pair, size 42)
Time for some honesty here - when I first saw them I thought to myself (and probably told Chris or Tom) that I will stick with my standard Mountain Bike shoes.  Our Inside Sales Rep Glenn convinced me to give them a shot just to see how they worked since they were there and they were free to try.  The old man in me gave up the stubborn battle and Boa'ed them up (we had the Cliplite with the Boa closure system) and I am so glad I did because I will be ordering a pair when I get back home for sure!  They were very comfortable, light, and supportive on the trail.  Hopefully I never find out how good they are when Hike-A-Bike comes around but in the walking around the demo area that I did they felt great!

We all know what is coming upon us very shortly - Cold and Snow!  But does that mean you have to stop riding?  There is an old saying out there: There is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing!  The key to winter riding is keeping your extremities warm and comfortable and a great way to keep your feet warm is with the Specialized Defroster:

Don't let rain or cold stop your ride. The Defroster Trail features seam-sealed bootie construction, Thinsulate® insulation, and a neoprene collar to help keep your feet warm and dry even in the worst conditions. A grippy rubber sole provides great stability in slippery conditions.
  • Thinsulate® 400 gram insulation for warmth, with waterproof, seam-sealed internal bootie construction and reflective heat-loss barrier in the sole
  • Sealed canopy and neoprene collar keep heat in and water out
  • Nylon composite sole with rubber tread for wet weather traction: 6.0 Stiffness Index

I just added these shoes to my wardrobe for this coming winter and got a chance to break them in last weekend on a 5 hour ride in High 30's/Low 40's weather.  My feet never once knew it was that cool out and they were very comfortable walking around in as well.

MSRP: $200.00 and we have the Mountain Bike (2-Bolt) and Road Bike (3-Bolt) Models in stock so stop by the shop today from 10-8 and check them out.  You can start with your Christmas list or get some ideas for others.

If you have been following the blog you have seen this photo of Tom in Arizona wearing his ASSOS kit.  We recently became an Authorized Retailer for ASSOS and their outstanding line of clothing.  Today they announced a special Facebook promotion where you could win signed Swiss National Cycling Team jerseys.

First hurdle is owning some ASSOS gear so stop into the shop today and take a look at our inventory.  While you are there ask Tom about how comfortable and durable their clothing is.  Nothing like an honest review right from the wearer of the clothing!

We are open from 10-6 today so stop by and check out our inventory and start putting together a Christmas List or get some ideas for the bike rider on your list!

Indoor Race Series information is out. Click on the link to register and purchase your race credits because it is going on right now!  Sure the weather was ideal for outdoor riding recently but you saw what happened last weekend.  Don't miss out on some great winter training opportunities!
