Triathlon/TT Tuesday - DEMO DAYS FELT DA2

Welcome to Demo Days Week at Tom's Pro Bike. Saturday is the big day and all this week I am going to be selecting Top End bikes to highlight just to give you a reason to come in and try one out Saturday!

With Triathlon season right around the corner I figure some of you might be interested in a new race bike so today we are highlighting the Felt DA2:

Years of research, engineering and wind-tunnel development went into the DA2, and the results are obvious. The DA is the weapon of choice for time trialists like Kristin Armstrong and Patrick Gretsch as well as triathletes like Terenzo Bozzone and Andi Bocherer. With Felt Dual Aero TT / Tri UHC Advanced carbon—shaped through extensive Computational Fluid Dynamics engineering and real-world testing—it’s 14% more aerodynamic and 13% stiffer than the previous-generation DA. The DA2 features the all-new Bayonet 4 steering system with integrated front brake and is optimized for Shimano Di2 11-speed electronic shifting, internal cable routing and an integrated battery mount. When every second counts, go with the DA2.

MSRP is $7,999.00 and this bike is ready to race this season and many more to follow.  With Triathlon/TT Bikes it is best to set up a fit first to ensure the bike's geometry will work with your body so give us a call at Tom's to get the ball rolling followed quickly by these new wheels!

A great way to test the your new Mountain Bike out and to start off the Mountain Bike season is to race. Single Track Racing is hosting a 6 race series at Sprague Brook starting May 20, 2014. Check out their Facebook Page for more information or Register Here.

Fast & Furious Friday - S-WORKS ROUBAIX SL4 DURA-ACE

Well you know we have been hyping this bike all week long after it carried Niki Terpstra to victory at the 2014 Paris-Roubaix race over the past weekend and I figured it was a good day to put it out on Fast & Furious Friday because if the bike can win Paris-Roubaix it is both Fast and Furious!

The S-Works Roubaix SL4 Dura-Ace is king of the Spring Classic right now after winning at Paris-Roubaix and can be purchased mechanical or upgraded to Di2 as well:

Smoother is faster. The more comfortable and less fatigued you are at the end of a 4 hour ride, the stronger you'll be. Like shocks on a race car, the Zertz vibration damping inserts on the S-Works Roubaix SL4 help absorb road impact and keep power planted firmly on the road - couple that with a FACT carbon 10r frame and it's still plenty stiff to thrash around in a sprint. Just ask four time Paris-Roubaix champion Tom Boonen
  • S-Works SL4 FACT 11r frame with Zertz is the fastest and smoothest endurance bike available, with incredible light weight, size-specific engineering, and tapered headtube; S-Works FACT carbon fork with Zertz has size-specific engineering to create a more balanced and stable ride for riders of different sizes
  • Ultra-light, Roval Rapide CLX 40 carbon clincher wheelset with CeramicSpeed bearings, paired with the new S-Works Turbo 26c 220TPI tire for a fast and light setup. Extremely low rolling resistance and superior cornering traction lets you climb easily, descend faster, and corner harder
  • Specialized S-Works FACT carbon crankset with OSBB, removable carbon spider, and CeramicSpeed ceramic bearings has incredible stiffness-to-weight for max power
  • The revolutionary CG-R post features 18mm of vertical compliance and Zertz vibration damping, while FACT carbon construction delivers unsurpassed comfort, control, and efficiency without adding weight or complication to the frame
Mechanical MSRP is $8,500 and Di2 is $10,500.  Stop by the shop to test ride one of these beauties and feel the difference for yourself!  We also posted this week the Di2 Sprint Shifters and Climbing Shifters as well so ask about that option if you decide to go Di2!

To start off the season Single Track Racing is hosting a 6 race series at Sprague Brook starting May 20, 2014. Check out theirFacebook Page for more information or Register Here.

Travel By Bike Thursday - FUJI TOURING

Photo: Happy new owners of Fuji Bikes model: Touring! Yep we do those!!!!!

The other day on Facebook we posted the above picture of 2 Fuji Touring bikes that we sold through the shop and I figured today would be a good time to give you the lowdown on the bike itself.

The Fuji Touring is a very solid entry level touring/commuting bike that will carry you through many miles of your favorite type of bike travel:

Fuji was one of the first in the industry to have a mass-produced touring bike on the market, and it's been a staple in the Fuji lineup ever since. A timeless machine unique in its duality - designed for traditional, long-distance, fully-loaded travel yet an extremely capable inner-city commuter - meet the Fuji Touring.

On the linked page there is an introductory video showing the highlights of the Touring as well.

With a MSRP of $889.00 this is a great bike for a great price.

To start off the season Single Track Racing is hosting a 6 race series at Sprague Brook starting May 20, 2014. Check out their Facebook Page for more information or Register Here.

PARIS-ROUBAIX

This past Sunday was the 2014 edition of the Paris-Roubaix race and today we are going to discuss pro racing, cobbles, Spring Classics and bicycles.  I am not sure how many of you are disappointed with how pro cycling and the racers have handled their issues in the past couple of decades but it seems that once race day comes around I forget all of those issues and just take in the whole experience that viewing these pro race is.

I am currently in the process of watching the tape delayed telecast of Paris-Roubaix and have no idea who won the race.  I purposely avoided any cycling sites Sunday and Monday just so that I could watch it "live" and they just entered the Forest of Arenberg and there were 3 flats from the lead group in the first minute.  They just did a close of the S-Work Roubaix and how it takes a beating from the cobbles but man that bike looked to be pretty stable with the Zertz inserts!

On my ride with my buddy yesterday we were discussing races and I said this is one race that I would love to go see but I didn't know if I would want to be in the Forest of Arenberg or at the Velodrome to see the finish line.  Either way I would never complain to be at either section if the time ever comes!

So what awaits the winner at the finish line?  The trophy above and a ton of respect from the many that put this race above all others, including the Tour de France!

Congratulations Niki Terpstra and S-Works Roubaix on the victory!

What is your dream event?  Would you ever venture to Europe to ride some of these routes?

If you need a bike to carry you there come see us at Tom's Pro Bike and we can help guide you to the proper bike for the ride of your dreams!
