2015 Specialized Turbo Line

We have discussed the Specialized Turbo here before but for 2015 they have come out with a new model at a reduced cost as well.  So if you were very interested in the Original Turbo (which they still make and is the Specialized Turbo S) but maybe were a little sticker shy check out the Specialized Turbo:

The Specialized Turbo combines speed and style through an innovative electric-assist motor, advanced electronics, and sleek design. Capable of a top speed of 45 km/h, the Turbo delivers superhuman power to anyone who rides it.
  • Sleek and sturdy alloy frame with Performance Geometry designed for high-speed riding
  • Oversized alloy fork is strong and responsive—even at 45 km/h
  • Specialized Electrak Armadillo tires for performance and durability no matter the speed
  • Body Geometry Turbo saddle keeps your comfortable for the fastest rides
  • Direct Drive rear hub motor provides uber efficient power no matter the terrain
  • Wireless interface unit with illuminated display to show key ride data
  • Finest quality Li-Ion battery pulls maximum power w/ superfast charging times

The MSRP is $3,800 in comparison to $5,900 for the Turbo S.  The biggest differences are drivetrain components and the front wheel on the Turbo is a standard quick-release compared to a Thru-Axle with the Turbo S.  Will those differences change the ride quality?  Well when we get our Turbo in you can test ride them both and decide for yourself.  I know that $3,800 makes it much more inviting to me as a commuter rig!

We are open from 10-8 today so come on in and take a test ride on that bike you always wanted! There is a new Valpak Coupon out as well.

Don't forget we stock Assos Clothing & Accessories now.

Mountain Bike Racing is happening this Saturday at Sprague Brook - Single Track Stampede - Register Here.

2013 & Older Bike Clearance Sale

There are only so many words to describe the sale that Tom is having right now on all 2013 and older models.  UNREAL, WOW, I NEED THAT BIKE, and ARE YOU KIDDING ME are some that came to mind as I walked around the store on Saturday and looked at some of the prices.

I am working on getting the exact sale list up on the blog and facebook but if you are looking for a new bike or just think that getting a great deal on a bike is pretty cool also then I would head over to Tom's and check out the prices.

Bike Image

I saw a Lynskey Titanium Hardtail 29'er Mountain Bike for under $4,000.  That is a $5500 bike generally.  There are 105 level road bikes for close to $1,100.00.  I can't even imaging what the Fuji Di2 UL bike (the Altamira is posted above) are going for (they were already down to $2,950.00 before the sale from their original price of $4,000.00).  Needless to say if you are in the market for a bike stop on by and check out our inventory.  As with all sales of this caliber - once the inventory is gone the price is gone with it.

We are open from 10-8 today so come on in and take a test ride on that bike you always wanted!  There is a new Valpak Coupon out as well.

Don't forget we stock Assos Clothing & Accessories now.

Bike Preparedness - TOM'S SERVICE CLINIC WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Well it seems like the appropriate time to do another blog post on bike preparedness and proper maintenance after last nights bike ride downtown.  A friend of mine met me at the waterfront and we cruised around the downtown area after work.  We were wrapping the ride up and he has a running race Wednesday night so he wanted to do the 4 mile loop real quick so we headed north on the bike paths out of the small boat harbor.

Up ahead of us I saw three people huddled around a bike and looking at us as we drew closer.  The first question was did we have a chain tool.  A lady had broken her chain and they were trying to repair it good enough to get her home.  Unfortunately in the bike bag I was riding with last night there was no chain tool and the only way home for her was walking or calling for a ride.

While inspecting the bike and seeing what we could do to get it to work I noticed the overall condition of her drive train as being very poor.  There was what seemed to me a lifetime of chain grease on the drivetrain components and also her frame.  I didn't say anything other than you should really get this bike looked at by a professional and get it cleaned up somewhat for proper use.  I also mentioned that Tom's was having a Bike Maintenance/Repair Clinic Wednesday night and if she could make it out that would be a good thing to do so she could avoid.

I understand we are not all mechanics and not really capable of high end bike repairs but everyone that rides a bike should understand how to change a flat, clean a drive train, the appropriate amount of lubrication necessary to make drivetrain work properly, and also how to do on the move adjustments to brakes/derailleurs to get yourself home or to Tom's for a thorough tune-up.  Bikes are not as complicated as cars which makes the maintenance of them that much easier and also that much more necessary.  This is a good way to avoid a 5-6 mile walk home or call to the SAG wagon halfway through your ride.

Check out our Events Page - Service Clinic 7/23/2014 @ 6:30pm. You can register online at the above link.
