Triathlon Tuesday - XTERRA TRIATHLONS

If you read yesterday's blog post you will know tomorrow night is WNYMBA Mountain Bike Social at Tom's Pro Bike.  We usually highlight Triathlon/Time Trial bikes on Tuesday.  So if you take Mountain Biking and Triathlons and mix them up what do you get?  XTERRA

This year there are 2 XTERRA events in our neck of the woods (The links are below for Syracuse and Allegheny races) and Tom's stock mountain bikes so I am going to highlight a men's and women's "entry" level mountain bike that will definitely carry you to the finish line of the bike leg if you do the proper training.

Specialized Rockhopper Comp 29 for the men with a MSRP of $1,150.00:

The Rockhopper is a time-tested trail riding hardtail built for cruising fire roads and slicing through singletrack. Equipped with Tektro 2 hydraulic disc brakes and a RockShox XC28 suspension fork featuring lockout, the Rockhopper Comp combines performance with value in a package every rider will appreciate.
  • Fully butted A1 Premium Aluminum 29er frame with ORE downtube for a lighter, more compliant and durable bike
  • RockShox XC28 fork features TurnKey hydraulic damping, lockout, alloy steerer tube, and externally adjustable rebound for plush and lightweight trail performance
  • Custom forged alloy, 10-speed XC crankset offers lightweight and durable performance
  • Tektro Draco hydraulic disc brakes/levers with Light Wave rotors create increased control and superior stopping power for more confident braking
  • SRAM X5 10-speed rear derailleur makes shifts super crisp and efficient

Specialized Myka Elite Disc 29 for the women with a MSRP of $880.00:

Built for lightweight performance with anatomical engineering and components for women, the Myka is the best-performing recreational mountain bike at a value everyone can appreciate. Myka Elite Disc 29er component highlights include an 80mm-travel SR Suntour fork, Tektro hydraulic disc brakes and Specialized Fast Trak Sport tires.

  • Fully butted A1 Premium Aluminum frame with Women's Recreational XC 29er Geometry, low standover, optimized stack and reach for a confident and lightweight ride
  • 80mm smooth-travel SR Suntour fork with preload adjustment and custom women's spring weights delivers size-appropriate tunability for varying terrain
  • SR Suntour 9-speed crankset with Shimano Alivio 9-speed rear derailleur for crisp shifting
  • Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with women's shorter reach levers assure precise braking and durability
