I was going to do a post today about bike helmets after reading a blog post yesterday but I came across this awesome news for bike riders and am going with this idea instead.  Garmin Varia is a new bike radar and smart bike light system that should add safety to everyone's ride.

CLICK ON THIS LINK - for a video and much more information on this innovative system.

You can look for the helmet blog sometime next week and I know this will be going onto my bike so keep an eye out for a review once it arrives!  To see our complete line of Garmin equipment stop by the shop today or tomorrow from 10-6!

Mountain Bike Tuesday - 2015 SPECIALIZED CRAVE EXPERT

I am a day behind on the blogging because yesterday was a long day  in the car driving south.  I got to stop and enjoy some Mohican Single Track so I am not complaining at all.  This week I am exploring Knoxville, TN by bike so keep an eye out for some riding experiences from the home of the University of Tennessee.

So your favorite person to buy a gift for is a mountain biker?  Well the 2015 Specialized Crave Expert is a great option for that special someone:

The Crave Expert is designed for fast cross-country racers. It delivers great performance with the help of a RockShox Reba RL 29 fork, a Shimano Deore XT rear derailleur, and Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes provide confidence to attack each corner.
  • M4 Premium Aluminum frame is super-lightweight, stiff, and features XC 29er Geometry
  • 100mm-travel RockShox Reba RL 29 Solo Air fork w/ remote lockout for plush performance
  • Stout XC SL aluminum with 21mm inner width hookless 29” rims are dialed for the XC course
  • Specialized Hi Lo disc hubs with reliable and smooth sealed cartridge bearings
  • Specialized Ground Control 2.1"/Fast Trak Control 2.0" tires with race-proven performance
  • Custom SRAM 10-speed XC double for ideal 29er gearing
  • Shimano hydraulic disc brakes for dialed modulation and stopping power
  • Shimano XT Shadow Plus, 10-speed derailleur w/ Clutch technology for shifting precision
MSRP is $1,800 and this build is a solid platform to do some very nice mountain biking on with reliability and durability from the components!

So you missed out on the Reverse Bike Auction or maybe we didn't have the size for you or the specific model you were looking for in a 2013 or older model.  For you we have a special announcement: Going until 10/31/2014 - ALL 2014 BIKES ARE 10% OFF & YOU RECEIVE A GIFT CARD FROM TOM'S PRO BIKE FOR 10% OF REMAINING VALUE.  That is not a bad deal at all.  The remaining 2013 inventory is on sale - just not as big of a price cut that you could have scored it with the last 3 or 4 weeks with the Auction - stop by for more information.

Come see us today and tomorrow from 10-8.

Don't forget we stock Assos Clothing & Accessories now.

Indoor Race Series information is out. Click on the link to register and purchase your race credits because it is going on right now!  Sure the weather was ideal for outdoor riding recently but you saw what happened last weekend.  Don't miss out on some great winter training opportunities!

Change It Up Wednesday - Bike Industry News

There is a lot of news out there from InterBike last week but a majority of it pertains to lines that Tom's does not carry so I had to do some clicking around the news feeds to find some stuff that was pertinent to our product line.

First up is 2 new Co-Motion cycles bikes - first was a Tandem that comes in at 25.5 The Macchiato and then a gravel rig that has a lower BB than your typical cross bike but would work quite fine in that venue as well.

Fi'zi:k had some new saddles on display as well.  This is always one of the better selling saddles at the shop and I noticed that they had the Tritone that was highlighted on the blog here after EuroBike.

I know we highlighted the Garmin Vector Power Pedal a while back in the Bike Industry News post but here is a review of them from an actual user of them.  MSRP is $1,699.99 and once the reviewers get more time in on the pedals they are promising a more indepth review.

It seems the Electric Bike phase is going to work on Fat Bikes as well as you can see from the Bosch Powered Felt FatE shown here in the desert outside of Las Vegas last week.  Look for this late 2014/early 2015 as they are awaiting Bosch to get approval for the motor in the United States.  Somewhat along the lines of what Specialized had to go through with the Turbo when trying to bring it in from the European market.

Time to start planning your winter training so stop by and sign up for our Fall or Winter Race Series.  Slots are filling up fast so don't delay!

Service Clinic coming up THIS THURSDAY September 26, 2013 - 7:00 - 9:00pm.  Sign up on-line so we can have a head count!

XTerra is Returning to WNY - XTerra ASP September 28, 2013.  There is still time to register!
