Tour Divide Race Bikes - 2016 SPECIALIZED FUSE EXPERT 6FATTIE

We have been discussing bikes that are capable of cross 'Merica from Oregon to Virginia on the road this week, but today we switch gears.  Friday is the start of the Tour Divide which carries bikers from Banff, Alberta to the Mexico boarder town of Antelope Wells, NM.  They cross the Continental Divide numerous times, ride through desert high country, camp in bear country, and have memories for a lifetime.  Today we are discussing the newly released 2016 Specialized Fuse Expert 6Fattie:

More volume means more speed. It might be a claim that sounds flipped on its head, but one ride on the Fuse Expert 6Fattie will have you shouting this sentiment from the rooftops. Our all-new 6Fattie Wheel System puts out more traction, more floatation, and better handling without sacrificing anything to efficiency on climbs. And to solidify itself as a proper trail machine, this Expert iteration of the Fuse places a focus on blending durability with performance. To do so, we spec'd it with strong alloy rims, a bulletproof one-by drivetrain with plenty of hammering and climbing ability, and a plush Manitou fork with 120mm of smooth travel. This Fuse is equally ready to take a beating and to hand one out to the trail.
  • M4 Premium Aluminum proved to be the right material for the job, allowing a lightweight, durable frame with a low and slack geometry that's equal parts snappy and efficient on climbs and descents. It also allowed us to incorporate our exclusive Diamond Stay that accommodates the 6Fattie wheels/ tires without compromising on our hallmark short chainstays that provide unrivaled handling and climbing prowess.
  • A Manitou Magnum Comp 650+ fork pairs 100/120mm (size-specific) of smooth travel with adjustable rebound for maximum absorbency over harsh terrain and easy, on-the-fly adjustments to the damping to hit the perfect tune.
  • Custom WTB Scraper i45 wheelset has a fat 45mm width and alloy construction for the perfect blend of speed and strength, which means that you'll experience less deflection, increased traction, and more stability—all at lower tire pressures.
  • 650bx3.0" 6Fattie Ground Control tires feature a perfectly sized contact patch for life-changing levels of traction and control while cornering, all without sacrificing climbing efficiency or descending prowess.
  • Our Stout XC Pro crankset would be the perfect complement to any one-by drivetrain, but here, its strong alloy construction makes it ideal for power transfer on climbs and the inevitable rock-strike when descending through technical gardens.
MSRP is $2,100.00 and if you are interested in learning more about this bike stop by the shop today from 10-6.  We can discuss storage options for carrying gear on the trail, gears that would work carrying you up and over multiple Continental Divide crossings, and something that would bring you south to the Mexico boarder with style and comfort.

Women's Mountain Bike - SPECIALIZED RHYME

Yesterday we showed off the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR series and today we are going to give the Specialized Rhyme FSR some love:

When no trail is too steep, and no jump is off limits, you need a bike that delivers a confidence-inspiring, purpose-built trail experience. We heard you loud and clear, and the new Rhyme delivers the right tool for the job. We designed it to not just be the most capable women's trail bike out there, but to be one of the most capable trail bikes—period. With unmistakable Trail Geometry, our own Women's Rx Trail Tune, unrivaled fit, SWAT technology, and an obsessively detailed construction, it's the bike that every trail rider has wanted but has never been given—until now.

Like yesterday there is a VIDEO to watch and this one was shot in New Zealand!  Pretty cool huh?

So if you are interested in learning more about the Specialized Rhyme and the local mountain bike scene stop on in today from 10-8.  Get out there and ride some dirt, get muddy, get wet, but most of all get a smile plastered on your face!

Don't forget to sign up for the May National Bike Challenge.

Mountain Bike Race Wednesday - SPECIALIZED STUMPJUMPER

Since it is Wednesday and that means Race Night at Sprague Brook (Registration Link Below!) I figured we would go with another Mountain Bike and figured that the 2015 Specialized Full Suspension Stumpjumper line would be a great place to start!

THE TRAIL LEGEND REBORN
Mountain biking has come a long way since the Stumpjumper first debuted in 1981, but one thing's stayed the same for decades: The Stumpjumper is the ultimate trail bike. And this year, it features revolutionary new technology, like our proprietary Rx Trail shock tune, never before seen, fully integrated SWAT technology, 650b, 6Fattie, and 29er options, ultra-short and nimble chainstays, and an even slacker, trail-eating geometry. Add it all up, and you have a bike that's ready for anything that the trail can throw at it
Here is a cool introductory VIDEO on the bike as well!
HANDLING
Trail bikes have to do it all, and do it all well. Equally focused on climbing prowess and descending capability, the Stumpjumper FSR is scared of nothing.
  • Geometry is built from the ground up for both 650b and 29” wheels.
  • We made the head tube even slacker, at 67/67.5° and 150/135mm travel (650b/29”).
  • Chainstays are even shorter for more nimble handling, at 420/437mm (650b/29").

EFFICIENCY
Pedaling and control are paramount to trail riding. We make sure that you get up and get down as fast as possible.
  • We further refined our fully active and independent FSR suspension for all-around trail performance, while retaining the ManFu design with full seat tube access, fully sealed cartridge bearings at every pivot, and easy to service hardware.
  • Our suspension team worked with our shock partners to develop our all-new Rx Trail Tune. Now, every rear shock volume, compression, and rebound range has been meticulously tuned specifically for the Stumpjumper FSR.
UTILITY
It’s more important than ever to be prepared for what the trail will dish out. We first introduced SWAT on the Epic, and now we've adapted the concept with the revolutionary SWAT Door.
  • On the down tube, the SWAT Door unhinges so you can store your trail essentials inside the Trail Chassis without any rattling or compromise to the integrity of the frame.
  • SWAT wraps keep tubes, pumps, and CO2 cartridges in place and rattle-free.
  • Full internal cable routing through easy-to-guide, molded carbon tubes protect your housing and eliminate any tangling.
PERFORMANCE
We're proud to say that every Stumpjumper FSR model comes with the new Command Post IRcc with up to 10 middle positions, plus full internal routing and powerful Shimano brakes. You'll also find that every model is made to be two-by compatible with the Taco Blade and our new seatstay and shock extension design. And for rolling stock, every bike comes with ultra-wide Traverse rims for a better tire profile and increased traction.

For more information on the complete line of Specialized Stumpjumped FSR bikes stop by the shop from 10-6 today.

Mountain Bike Monday - LYNSKEY MOUNTAIN BIKES

Photo: Well the Lynskey Performance Designs Ridgeline made it to DuPont State Forest today. If you ride dirt then you must ride this dirt before it is too late. Great area for riding and I really haven't even found a lot of the trails in the area!

If you have been following Facebook at all - you know I have been traveling around the south with my Lynskey Ridgeline 29 Titanium Hardtail.  They have a full line of mountain bikes and even though they may be on the higher end of the cost scale, if you do a lot of mountain biking I feel the cost is justified.  They are durable and reliable and manufactured right here in the USA!  Here is the full Lynskey Mountain Bike Line.

If you are looking to save money and missed out on the Reverse Bike Auction and all the great deals on 2013 or older models. Until 10/31/2014 - ALL 2014 BIKES ARE 10% OFF & YOU RECEIVE A GIFT CARD FROM TOM'S PRO BIKE FOR 10% OF REMAINING VALUE.  That is not a bad deal at all.  The remaining 2013 inventory is on sale - just not as big of a price cut that you could have scored the last 3 or 4 weeks with the Auction - stop by for more information.

We are open from 10-6 today so come on down - the weather looks like it is trying to clear up for some more beautiful fall riding.

Don't forget we stock Assos Clothing & Accessories now.  In the picture of Tom below from Arizona he is wearing a kit from Assos, so when he gets back ask him about the line and get some first hand review about a great line of clothing.

Indoor Race Series information is out. Click on the link to register and purchase your race credits because it is going on right now!  Sure the weather was ideal for outdoor riding recently but you saw what happened last weekend.  Don't miss out on some great winter training opportunities!
