Great Article On Habits of Fast Cyclists

First off - Man I sure hope you got out for a ride yesterday!  What a beautiful day for Mid-November (a bit windy but the temps were ideal!).  I caught a ride out to Arcade and did some exploring out that way on roads I don't ever get to ride on - what a great area if you have not been out there before!

Now onto the blog - browsing the internet I came across this article from Bicycling - 8 Habits Fast Cyclists Swear By:  Here is a piece from the article on Growing Your Base:

Grow Your Base
Getting faster isn't all about intervals and high intensity training, especially if you’re new to cycling. While interval training is important (we'll get into that next), don't forget the value of endurance. Your best bet is to spend a significant amount of time growing your aerobic base—your ability to ride hours at a time. Use the early season and the tail end of the off-season to focus on these endurance rides so you're ready for high intensity training as your season starts.

The World Championships & Specialized

The World Championships are a pretty big deal.  They have not been held in the United States since 1986 when Colorado Springs held the honor of being the host city.  They have not been in North America since 2003 when they were held in Hamilton, Ontario.  So since they are in Richmond, Virginia this year it is kind of a big deal - if you are into cycling and all.

Here is Cool Video about the city of Richmond and it's cycling scene!

So what about Specialized?  Well they are going to be well represented at the World Championships with the new S-Works Venge Vias Di2 and S-Works Tarmac Di2.

For more information on any of the Specialized line of bikes stop by the shop today from 10-6.

For the upcoming World Championships in Richmond we are going to be closed starting Friday September 25th and will not be re-opening until Tuesday September 29th.  Make sure you stop by before Thursday at 8:00pm for your weekend biking needs.

NEW 2016 Specialized S-Works Venge ViAS Di2

The new Specialized Venge ViAS is quantifiably
faster than a standard road bike by a wide margin

The all-new S-Works Venge ViAS Di2 was developed with one objective in mind—to be the fastest bike in the world.

The 2016 Specialized Venge features dramatic aero features such as a truncated head tube, an integrated low-riding stem, an elongated front brake mounted behind the fork and a rear brake tucked midway up the seat tube. Cables and wires are internally routed — even through the stem — and the tubeless-ready wheels are a bold depth of 64mm.

But perhaps the most dramatic thing about the new Venge ViAS is that it handles like a great road bike.

The new frame is matched with a brand new Roval CLX 64 wheelset, the fastest the brand has ever produced.

“We are fully friggin’ commited,”said Specialized’s Mark Cote to a Bikeradar journalist, who helped bring the wind tunnel to life. “Aero is typically 80 percent of the resistance you face on a bike. It’s not just road products where we are studying aerodynamics. It’s e-bikes. It’s mountain bikes. It’s apparel.”

  • The FACT 11r carbon frame features fully internal cable routing, and it's Rider-First Engineered™ in order to provide consistent performance across the entire size range.
  • FACT carbon fork is designed to drastically reduce aerodynamic drag, while still providing incredible stiffness and steering response for all out efforts and twisting descents.
  • Roval CLX 64 wheelset provides the ultimate in speed and performance. Optimized for both head- and crosswinds, the CLX 64 wheelset is tubeless-ready and features a 21mm internal rim width for enhanced traction, minimal rolling resistance, and improved aerodynamics.
  • The S-Works crankset features our highest quality carbon construction for the best in lightweight power transfer, while also featuring a fully integrated ANT+ compatible Quarq power meter.
  • Fully integrated proprietary brakes are strategically located where wheel flex is minimal. This reduces brake rub, as well as laying claim to a near-zero drag coefficient for maximum aerodynamic efficiency.
