Today we are going to cover two of Specialized's Triathlon Shoes. The first shoe up is the Trivent Terra. This is their mountain bike triathlon shoe for all the XTerra Athletes out there. Although there are not a lot of XTerra events locally if you have been reading the blog lately they announced that they are coming back to Western New York this September for an XTerra event in Allegany State Park.
I would imagine by the September 28th race date that full wetsuits will be allowed and you might want a pair of awesome shoes to go along with your fall race kit to bomb around the race course.
Here is what Specialized has to say about the Terra: Developed by the Caveman himself, the Trivent Terra is exactly the right shoe for Xterra athletes. Lightweight, total comfort, and Body Geometry Technology. If it’s right for Conrad Stoltz, it’s right for you.
- Light and stiff FACT carbon midsole runs the full length of the shoe, with thermoplastic replaceable tread for confident traction: 11.0 stiffness index
- Full Body Geometry features in outsole and Body Geometry+ High Performance Footbeds combine to reduce hot spots and improve knee/foot alignment
- Engineered Micromatrix upper is light, durable and supple fitting, with welded reinforcement for off-road durability
- Smooth internal lining for "sockless" riding fit and comfort
- Open tongue design for breathability and drying with closed toe to keep rocks and dirt out
- Large heel pull for easy entry and faster shoe changes in transitions
- Arch mounted Launch Clip for flying starts
- Approximate weight: 330g (1/2 pair #42)
Next up is the Trivent Expert for the road course racers. With race season in full swing you might be on the lookout for a new pair of shoes.
Specialized highlights their own Expert: Our pro triathletes demanded ultimate ventilation and faster transitions, so we developed the Trivent Expert with performance-enhancing, tri-specifi c features, temperature-regulating construction, and Body Geometry ergonomics.
- FACT carbon/glass fiber reinforced outsole is directionally rigid for outstanding power transfer: 8.5 stiffness index
- Performance-enhancing Body Geometry contours in the outsole
- Ergonomic, Body Geometry footbed is fully perforated for ventilation and drainage
- Thermobonded construction for a smooth internal lining for "sockless" riding fit and comfort
- Chromed fibers of our FACT carbon outsole act as a heat shield, deflecting road heat even in the hottest riding conditions
- Large heel pull for easy entry and faster shoe changes in transitions
- Arch mounted Launch Clip for flying starts
- Replaceable heel tread with internally recessed bolts
- Supple Micromatrix upper with open-air mesh for maximum ventilation
- 3-bolt cleat pattern fits Shimano SPD-SL, Look, Time, and Speedplay
- Approximate weight: 267g (1/2 pair #42)
We are offering 10% off the purchase of either of these shoes if you mention that you read about it in the blog! Trivent Terra is a order only item but we have other Specialized Mountain Bike shoes for size verification. Stop by the shop and check out our selection of TT/Triathlon shoes and bikes!
