Nite Rider Light Review - LUMINA 550 & SENTINEL 40

The review process is over and these lights are getting 2 thumbs up from Blogger Bill for sure.

First up is the NiteRider Lumina 550:

As with all Luminas, the Lumina 550 features a lightweight body combined with increased thermal properties, ensuring a brighter, longer lasting LED. Luminas feature a newly designed handlebar mount making sure it remains rock solid whether on the trail or pavement.
  • Affordable, high output light
  • Ride safely with daylight flash mode!
  • Perfect for helmet mounting
  • New rock solid handlebar mount
  • USB rechargeable
  • Light weight self contained light
This light is outstanding and will provide great illumination for any night time riding that you will be doing.  I didn't get a chance to ride any trails at night with the light but I feel confident that it would be adequate for some night time bike rides.

MSRP: $79.99
Next up is the greatest rear blinker light that I have had the opportunity to use - The NiteRider Sentinel 40:

The Sentinel™ 40 has a powerful 2 watt LED, 5 modes, is USB rechargeable and has a brand new safety feature, Laser Lanes! The Laser Lanes mode is designed to project ultra bright laser lines on the ground, giving the rider their own virtual lane.
The Sentinel 40 complies with FDA standard for lasers, notice No. 50, 2007

  • Highly visible laser lanes
  • Ultra bright 40 lumen output
  • Laser and tail light in the one light!
    • USB rechargeable
    • Group Ride Mode – be seen without annoying fellow cyclists
    • The new standard in tail light safety
The Laser Lanes are awesome and I noticed that when I used this instead of my regular rear blinker I seemed to get a lot more clearance from vehicles passing from behind and that, my friend, is never a bad thing!  Another nice this is the Group Ride Mode where it does not blind the rider behind you.

    MSRP: $49.99

Carbon Clearance Sale - SPECIALIZED ROUBAIX SL4 COMP

The deals are still coming in folks and today we are highlighting a bike that we have a lot of inventory of so sizing will not be an issue and we introduce the 2014/2015 Specialized Roubaix SL4 Comp:

Smoother is faster. The more comfortable and less fatigued you are at the end of a 4-hour ride, the stronger you'll be. Like shocks on a race car, the Zertz vibration damping inserts on the Roubaix SL4 help absorb road impact and keep power planted firmly on the road—couple that with a FACT carbon 8r frame and it's still plenty stiff to thrash around in a sprint.
    • Fulcrum S4 wheelset is strong, lightweight, and ready to race
    • Specialized Turbo Pro tires deliver low rolling resistance w/ superior cornering traction
    • TURN Zayante BB30 crank provides excellent power transfer
    • Always reliable Shimano 105 brakes for effective braking in all conditions
    • Shimano Ultegra, 11-speed rear derailleur is lightweight w/ smooth and precise shifting
    • Minimalist, high-performance Body Geometry ToupĂ© Comp Gel saddle w/ hollow Cr-Mo rails
    • Lightweight and efficient, FACT carbon CG-R seatpost w/ Zertz vibration damping
This great bike retailed for $3,000 and is on clearance now for $2,350.  SL4 Frame, Ultegra Shifters & Derailleurs, Carbon, and Zertz vibration damping - you cannot beat that deal folks so hurry in today from 10-6 to take one out on a test ride!

    Carbon Clearance Sale - 2014 FELT AR5

The 2015 Tom's Carbon Clearance Sale is in full force right now and today we are highlighting a Aero Road Bike - the 2014 Felt AR5:

Carbon fiber aero road bikes have commanded a big price tag, until now. The AR5 takes our wind-tunnel proven AR frame shape and our UHC Performance carbon fiber to deliver aero performance at an everyman price. Whether you’re cruising to your first century or trying to drop the club ride, this bike is equipped with a Shimano 105 drivetrain for faithful shifting in all conditions.

It originally had a MSRP of $2,499 and is only sale for $2,200.  We had a 51, 54, & 58 at release date so if you are interested in one of those sizes I would contact the shop to ensure availability and then rush in for a Fast Test Ride - it is an Aero Road Bike after all - they are meant to go fast!  We are open from 10-8 today!

Carbon Clearance Sale - COLNAGO CX ZERO

It is Sale Time again at Tom's Pro Bike and we have a lot of Carbon Bikes on Clearance to make way for the 2016 models to roll in.  CLICK HERE for a list that was accurate on Friday but some inventory has been sold already.

Today we are highlighting the 2014 Colnago CX ZERO that I have the privilege of test riding this week.  It started off with the commute home from the shop on Saturday, a 50 mile hill session yesterday through the Southtowns, and some more fun rides this week.

To get your interest higher here is a VIDEO REVIEW for you to look over and dream of the different rides that you could take this beauty out on.

My first impressions are as follows:
#1 - I had to change the stem because the stock one was quite long but that is a comfort item that is handled during our Free Professional Fit that comes standard on all bike purchases.
#2 - Mainly riding the Specialized Diverge recently the Colnago is much quicker than the Diverge.  I climbed easier on the bigger cassette than on the Diverge and I attribute that to the frame and tire size.
#3 - You feel the road much more.  It is a combination of skinnier tires and the lack of Zertz Inserts that come on the Diverge and Roubaix Specialized Carbon models (and others as well).  I am sore in the shoulders this morning and that never happens when I ride the Diverge but it surely is something I could get used to based on the speed of this bike.

This is a great bike and it is on sale for $4,100.00 for the Full 11 Speed Ultegra Carbon Bike which in my opinion is a good price for this level of a bike.  You will get many quick & comfortable miles out of this bike if you make the decision to purchase it.  We only have 2 sizes available a 50 & 54 which are closer to 52 & 56 based on their geometry if comparing to most companies frame sizes.  I am 5'10" and have a 32" inseam and feel very comfortable on the 54 just as reference.

Stop by today from 10-8 to check out all of our Sale Inventory!

    Speedplay SYZR Stainless Pedal System

Do you like playing in the mud on your bike?  Either Mountain Biking or Cyclo-Cross will bring conditions that make pedal entry much tougher than dry sunny conditions and Speedplay has upped the pedal game with their new SYZR Stainless or Titanium Pedal System:

    Key features:
DIRECT-DRIVE POWER TRANSFER: Syzr pedals deliver power more efficiently than any MTB pedal. Other MTB pedal systems waste energy with every pedal stroke by transferring rider power through the spongy rubber tread of the shoe sole. Direct, through-the-cleat power transfer eliminates any energy loss from sole compression or wear.
ACTIVE CLEAT STABILIZATION: Self-tightening, cinch-down cleat connection ensures unsurpassed lateral foot stability. Syzr pedals are the only off-road pedal design to provide the superior platform stability of a road pedal.
TRUE MICRO-ADJUSTABLE FLOAT: Micro-adjustable, 10-degree float range makes cleat set-up easy. Unique, pivoting cleat provides smooth, non-recentering, knee-friendly float.
CERAMIC ROLLER-CAM RELEASE TECHNOLOGY: Proprietary Ceramic Roller-Cam Release Technology ensures consistent disengagement in all conditions by rolling instead of binding.
TARGET ACQUISITION TECHNOLOGY: Funnel-shaped guides on the front of each cleat effectively increase the size of the target area and steer the cleat into the pedal. This technology makes Syzr pedals much easier to engage without looking.
LIGHT WEIGHT: Stainless pedal each 156g; 312g per pair.
*Titanium pedal each 137g; 275g per pair.

For more information on the Speedplay SYZR Pedal System stop by the shop today from 10-8.  We can put them on a mountain or cross bike for you to get comfortable with over the weekend.  Cross season is starting soon!
